Fields Corner
Fields Corner, located along "Dot Ave," is a vibrant commercial center. Once you get out of the T and walk a little, you'll find an interesting neighborhood. It is a little run down, but there are some bright spots, including a mural painted by a community group and a local Catholic school. One of Dorchester's largest business districts, it reflects Boston's late 19th century growth, which was fueled by immigration and access to new housing. Look beyond the shops to find the well-known regional housing type - the "Triple Decker." Today, Fields Corner is a diverse community of African-American, Caribbean, Irish, Latino, and Vietnamese communities.
