One of the best Pho houses in Dorchester, and for that matter all of Boston, and again, by that criteria, in the country. Mind you, I am speaking strictly of the quality of their pho; the restaurant itself is in Fields Corner, which is not the greatest neighborhood in the city. The interior is bare bones, very 1970s era kitsch decor, though they do have two TVs and show the news during the day, and Vietnamese variety shows during the evening. Most of the clientele and all of the staff are Vietnamese, and that authenticity is reflected in the food. Their pho has a deliciously rich broth, and they will serve it in the traditional way, with the sliced steak raw on a platter, if you ask. An extra large costs around $6.50, and is enormous. Their other dishes are quite tasty, too, but if is - as the name suggests - primarily about the Pho here.

Dragged my Mom & Dad - Viet food neophytes - out here for a meal, and even they loved! We had a duck salad appetizer, which was huge, had tons of duck slices over a crisp and flavorful salad. The salad would have been nice on its own - chopped cabbage, nuts, and a lemongrass dressing - and the duck was a nice touch as well. We also had their fresh rolls, which had ham and crispy noodles inside; I hadn't seen that before. Their bahn mi comes as a soupy stew, with bread on the side. You take the beef bits from the soup, dress the bread with the broth, and eat - it was zesty, tasty and unique. The pho was very special, chart topping stuff. Tons of fresh eye round, rich & savory broth (WAY better than that fake stuff in NY), just a joy to eat, and so fresh and clean. It's the kind of meal you can stuff yourself on, and still feel not-too-gross afterwards.
