Polish Triangle
Located where Dorchester Avenue, Boston Street and Columbia Road converge, literally, into a triangle, and extending out into South Boston. Our Lady of Czestochowa's parking lot fills to capacity every Sunday. Polish-owned shops like DJ's Market and Baltic Deli dot the area, and it's like a 'virtual reality' Poland. In both markets stacks of Polish light rye bread disappear from the shelves and long lines form in front of the chrome stocked with kielbasa and other fresh meats. In Café Polonia, the only Polish restaurant in Boston, the churchgoers rub shoulders with a more diverse patronage in search of pierogis, kielbasa, and babka breads. Unfortunately, many Poles have been moving out to other areas of Greater Boston. In the old days, there were fewer cars, everybody knew everybody and DJ's was a gathering point.
