Ronan Park was historically an area of large, well landscaped estates. Prior to the late 18th century, the area was called Bird Hill. Ronan Park was named in honor of Father Peter Ronan, pastor of nearby St. Peter's Church during the late 19th century.
From the top of the park, the views of Dorchester Bay are spectacular. The park was originally designed by the world renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who is credited with designing thousands of parks throughout the world.
Ronan Park features two full- and two half-courts for basketball, a regulation-size baseball diamond, a tot lot, and a perennial “peace” garden.
In August look for the annual Multicultural Festival here.
